My research asks how Maori participate in the commercialisation of genomic material and data of taonga species.
Currently there is little understanding of the nature and extent of Maori participation in commercialisation and benefit sharing of taonga species. This subject matter provides an opportunity to investigate existing status of Maori engagement, expectations, value and relationships that exist within a commercial context and whether there is fair and equitable benefit sharing.
